Vision and Mission Statement
For the Love of WordPress
Many WordCamps have side events, most certainly WCEU. AltCtrlOrg aims to be an unofficial side event providing a safe yet casual space to talk about ALL things WordPress. No .org accounts or checkboxes needed.
Our Mission
Alt Ctrl Org supports WordPress enthusiasts by providing a platform to share their novel ideas through side events at WordCamps. These additional talks are designed to complement and expand your WordCamp experience, offering fresh perspectives and sparking meaningful conversations.
This year, at our inaugural event, our focus areas are:
- Free Speech: Encouraging open dialogue and diverse viewpoints within the WordPress community.
- Governance in WordPress: Exploring the structures and systems that shape the WordPress ecosystem inside and outside of WordPress.
- Open Source: Debating the interstices of FOSS and what that means for WordPress.
Our Vision
WordPress is not just a person, software, theme, plugin, or company. It’s a collection of code, tools, and most importantly people.
At Alt Ctrl Org, we believe in creating a safe and independent space to discuss topics that matter to the WordPress community as a whole.
We believe there should be no need for self-censorship whenever you want to present an idea for the better of WordPress, or any part of WordPress.
Looking Ahead
As a new initiative, 2025 marks the beginning of our journey. By the end of the year, we aim to have a clearer understanding of our long-term goals. Following our event in Basel, we plan to engage the community in conversations and gather feedback to shape our future direction.
